Meltrix
, Valeč Castle Gallery, Czech Republic, 2–7 September 2025

The title “Meltrix” is a neologism formed by combining the words melt and matrix. It was created to precisely define the visual language of Tomasz Pietrek, whose distinctive artistic identity is shaped through experimental processes of thermal media transformation. The manually altered source material evolves into a fundamental form
a kind of matrix that becomes the foundation of the artist’s unique style.

The original substance (matrix) serves as a starting point for numerous transformations, generating complex structures that form independent or interpenetrating constellations. The works take the form of drawings, graphic works, objects, installations, and publications. The richness of imagery and themes within this interdisciplinary language evokes existential and philosophical reflections, while the artist’s fluid movement between constructed worlds demonstrates exceptional technical mastery.

The exhibition presented at the Valeč Castle Gallery in the Czech Republic from 2 to 7 September 2025 featured new drawings from the “Portraits” series, graphic objects, and publications created over the past decade. Gathered in the central part of the exhibition space as a vertical installation resembling a tower, the works symbolically summarized the artist’s publishing output.

The event was organized as part of the International Symposium “Valeč and Czech Baroque through the Eyes of European Artists.”
